Tragedy ...an unbelievable tragic end...

Tragedy ...an unbelievable tragic end to our Beloved dog Rambo and our Thor aka " Blue Thunder" and Brumhilda (trailer that Marie and Dawn had just named) and everything we owned....our Beloved home and livelihood. .but we are blessed to have escaped unharmed with MG

Thor had just undergone a 2 week long ordeal which had resulted in a successful $ 11455.00 “Heart Transplant”…(that had taken our last $ 7000 cash, and the shop was allowing us to carry the balance..)
Bill and his brothers Mike and Tim, put in hours and hours of work …the full spa treatment…Thor had never looked better and ran strong and effortlessly (fuel mileage was improved a mile per gallon…now we can finally make some money, with less than a year to have it all paid off)…

During all this downtime, Rambo (our beloved 15 year old Lhasa Apso) was ill with advancing Kidney failure, the pills and diet seemed to be making him sicker…. we were facing heart wrenching decisions about putting him down…but he bounced back after we stopped the pills ... he was so happy to be back in his home…being pampered and spoilt.

On the road again…we’d set out from Ogden UT Thursday and delivered in St George Friday morning, replenishing our cash supply, put $ 500.00 in the fuel tank and tucked the rest away in the overhead and set sail for California Shipping in Stanton CA. With no air conditioning, as we crossed into Nevada and passed Mesquite, watching outside temperature rising, had just commented that it was 111.7 degrees outside, Thor was running strong… a noise made me look back at the inverter and then noticed the amp meter was dropping rapidly, Bill pulled over immediately, then heard another loud “pop” … Bill started to open the hood but then noticed flames igniting back under the fuel tank and he yelled for me to get the dogs and out of the truck NOW! … M.G is always on my lap and I jumped out with him…never imagining it could possibly be “that bad”… surely I’d have time to get back in to get Rambo, my phone laptop, paperwork and wallet, the CASH!!!… thought I’d need to keep my hands free to help… the fire extinguisher was in the back box right above the flames… Bill wouldn’t let me get back in but he tried to get in to get Rambo… but he couldn’t see him and he didn’t come to his call…(when he was well, he was always the first to the door whenever the truck stopped) … completely distraught …we attempted to get the fire extinguishers out of the trailer but with 200 gallons of fuel …there was no chance… within minutes the smoke and fire had engulfed the entire cab… helpless to save our beloved Rambo and praying that he didn’t suffer….our whole life was in that cab, the trailer soon followed as the wind pushed the fire to greedily consume the varnished floor and walls and the one 1928 Stutz Bearcat that sat innocently awaiting its fate…and all was lost before the fire trucks could reach us…just that fast …the tractor was reduced to nothing more than a heap of unrecognizable ash…

….but, through all this, we have been overwhelmed by the unconditional outpouring of pure goodness, love and support from family, friends and strangers alike…Bless you all.!!!

Now starts the next episode of our life adventure…we don’t quite know yet where it will take us ???

Bill with Rambo and M.G.

The truck on fire.

Created by Melissa Kelleher on June 9, 2013

For six years Bill and Lyn have been long haul truck drivers, transporting people prize automobiles all across the country. They both have a love for the open road, and classic cars. They have had ups and downs in their business ,but on June 8th 2013 they suffered a devastating blow their Freightliner affectionately called, "Thor", caught on fire and ultimately burned completely to the ground. The fire was so intense it also took their enclosed trailer . The truck was not only their lively hood but their home, and they only made it out with the clothes on their backs and their beloved dog M.G.. Unfortunately they were not able to save their other cherished dog, Rambo who was with them for 15 years. We are asking for help in getting them back on their feet after loosing everything in the fire. Please share this page any help is greatly appreciated.
